Charles Russell Speechlys has nearly doubled the number of partner promotions this year, with the majority of those made up hailing from legacy Charles Russell.
In the firm’s second promotions round since the 2014 merger, nine lawyers have been made up across the firm’s London and Guildford offices.
These include City-based corporate finance senior associate David Coates, who has been at the firm throughout his legal career, as well as litigation partner James Eighteen and corporate tax partner Martin Griffiths.
Meanwhile family solicitor Thomas Duggins is one of a number of promoted lawyers to have joined the firm from elsewhere, with Duggins training at Anthony Gold.
Contentious trusts and estates lawyer Tamasin Perkins previously worked at Bates Wells & Braithwaite and Mishcon de Reya, while private client specialist Nicola Thorpe trained at Ottaways and then worked at legacy SJ Berwin until 2013.
The majority of the promoted partners joined legacy firm Charles Russell, with Guildford-based litigation lawyer Jamie Cartwright and employment lawyer Ben Smith training at the firm.
Private property lawyer William Marriott was also a legacy Charles Russell lawyer, joining the firm in 2013 from Meadows Ryan.
Last year, the firm made up five lawyers including three from Charles Russell and two from Speechly Bircham. Charles Russell and Speechly Bircham voted to merge in 2014, most recently reporting a 3.5 per cent increase in revenue to £134.5.
