DLA Piper makes up 48 partners in bumper round

DLA Piper has made up a record 48 partners, including 14 in the UK and 18 in the US.

Corporate saw the largest partner intake yet again, with 12 partner promotions. The firm’s disputes practice saw 10 partners made up and real estate gained seven new partners. There were five promotions in tax, four in both finance and IP & technology, and three in employment.

By region, continental Europe received nine new partners, while Asia saw five made up and Australia two.

Global co-CEO Simon Levine said: “Developing the capability of our people and helping them to realise their potential is a key part of our global strategy and allows us to deliver the highest quality service to our clients.”

Jay Rains, also co-CEO, added: “These lawyers represent the future of DLA Piper and will play and integral role in growing our practice, making the partnership stronger and achieving our vision to be the world’s leading global business firm.”

Last year the firm promoted 44 lawyers to its global partners, including nine in the UK and 20 in the US. In 2014 DLA made up 45 partners.

DLA Piper’s global revenue was static at $2.48bn (£1.626bn) last year, following a 1.7 per cent growth during the 2013 calendar year.

Global co-chairman and senior partner Nigel Knowles announced he was stepping down from both roles in February. He will leave the firm on 30 April.
