Weir Group has promoted deputy general counsel Christopher Morgan to the top legal role following the retirement of Keith Ruddock last year.
Morgan joined the engineering company as Ruddock’s deputy in April 2014, having previously been general counsel of Balfour Beatty’s rail division.
His appointment was described by Ruddock at the time as reflecting the rapid growth of the company, with Weir having more than doubled in size in the past five years.
Morgan took over as legal chief from the start of May, with director of strategy and corporate affairs Andrew Neilsen having served as interim company secretary while a recruitment process was carried out.
Ruddock announced he was to retire from the role at the end of 2015 after three years in charge. During his tenure he used a number of firms including Maclay Murray & Spens and Pinsent Masons, as well as Herbert Smith Freehills and Baker & Mckenzie.
Prior to joining Glasgow-headquartered Weir, Ruddock held a number of different in-house positions at Shell International for 17 years.
