Dancia Penn QC, a former BVI Attorney General now heading the new regulatory body for the legal profession, has spoken at the first industry seminar on the Legal Profession Act, hosted by Ogier.
The Act, which established the BVI General Legal Council that now regulates and supervises the profession, came into force in November and has already been amended twice.
The keynote speaker at the seminar was Mrs Penn QC, a former Attorney General and Deputy Governor of the BVI, who is now the Chair of the BVI General Legal Council which has responsibility for the admission of lawyers, legal education and training, disciplinary matters, legal aid funding, ethics and pupilage.
