Debevoise & Plimpton litigation partner Matthew Biben has been appointed to the New York State Commission on Judicial Nomination, which screens candidates for vacancies on the Court of Appeals.
Appointments to the 12-member commission are divided evenly among the three branches of government. Biben will replace Margaret Morton, who is resigning from the commission, and serving the balance of her term, which expires on March 31, 2018.
Biben’s appointment is effective immediately. Biben is a litigation partner and member of the firm’s white collar & regulatory defence group, banking & consumer finance and cybersecurity & data privacy practices. His practice has a particular focus on matters related to financial institutions and complex situations involving the government.
