CMS Cameron McKenna has appointed Stephen Millar as its next UK managing partner as Duncan Weston prepares to step down in May.

Millar is a corporate partner specialising in the oil and gas sector and has led teams working on North Sea deals across several of CMS’s offices, including London and Aberdeen. After originally joining CMS in 2003 he later joined the firm’s board in 2013 as practice group manager of energy, projects and construction.
Millar was also instrumental in orchestrating last year’s merger between CMS Cameron McKenna and Dundas & Wilson and afterwards became co-executive partner for Scotland. In this role he was responsible for a number of teams across a wide range of practice areas.
The focus of the merger surrounded CMS’s interest in Dundas’ real estate, financial services and energy practices. The merger required a 75 per cent majority vote from partners, which was reached by noon on the day of voting.
Partners at both firms agreed a two-year partner lock-in period as a condition of the £277m merger.
Weston will continue in his role as managing partner until he steps down in May.
