Eversheds has hired construction litigation heavyweight Jonathan Douglas from Nabarro.
Douglas has worked at Nabarro for the last 16 years and was promoted to partner in the firm’s infrastructure, construction and energy group in 2005. Since then he has gained a seat on Nabarro’s partnership board and executive group, which manages the firm.

Douglas specialises in power and energy projects with a particular focus on offshore wind farms. His experience also extends to high-value and complex disputes in the office and retail sectors.
In 2013 he advised Greater Gabbard Offshore Winds Ltd (GGOWL) in an arbitration against construction company Fluor Limited over £1.6bn potential construction faults at the 140-turbine wind farm, which later settled.
Eversheds global construction and engineering head Simon Oats said: “The addition of a disputes lawyer of Jonathan’s standing is key to our continuing development in the UK and internationally.”
He added the firm’s construction and engineering teams have seen year-on-year growth.
Douglas’s appointment is the second lateral hire Eversheds has made form Nabarro this year after the firm also picked up real estate specialist Tom Goldsmith in May 2015.
Eversheds’ London office took a hit in April last year when it lost a team of nine lawyers to King & Wood Mallesons (KWM). The team included real estate partners Simon Burson, George Burrha and Jeremy Brooks as well as commerce and technology partner James Walsh.
The team was the second to leave Eversheds to join KWM in less than 18 months. In 2014 KWM picked up a three-partner team from Eversheds in order to build a structural real estate team.
It included former Eversheds London managing partner Cornelius Medvei, former international head of real estate William Naunton, and former London head of tax Clive Jones.
