A welcome shift towards positivity marked the Guernsey branch of the Institute of Directors 25th annual convention, which took place last Thursday (6 October, 2016).
We were proud once again to be the principal sponsor of the event at which our Guernsey managing partner John Greenfield urged the 500 attendees to “carry on the Guernsey way and continue to prosper” referring to the resilience Islanders have shown when faced with difficult challenges in the past.
Prosperity was a key theme of the evening entitled ‘To Prosperity & Beyond – unlocking health, wealth and happiness for Guernsey’.
Keynote speaker Jonathan Macdonald led with the notion of responding rather than reacting to challenges with the Chinese proverb: “When the winds of change blow some people build walls, others build windmills.” This seemed to capture the imagination of the panellists and the attendees and created an atmosphere of opportunity and positivity that was perhaps absent at previous IoD debates.
