Slaughter and May has announced that Paul Stacey will become the firm’s new executive partner from next year.

Finance partner Stacey will replace Richard Clark who will retire from the firm when his term ends next April. When he retires, Clark will have served on Slaughters’ partnership board for 14 years.

His replacement Stacey joined Slaughters as a trainee in 1981 and became a partner in the finance team nine years later. His term will last until 2022.

Stacey was head of the firm’s finance practice between 2011 and 2014, passing over the reins to partner Andrew McClean in 2014.

As Slaughters executive partner, he will be responsible for the firm’s overall management strategy including people, finance, technology and compliance.

Stacey will work alongside current senior partner Steve Cooke, who was elected at the start of this year, as well as practice partner David Wittmann.

Alongside Stacey’s appointment, Wittmann has also been re-elected as practice partner having first stepped into the role in 2015. His role officially lasted until April 2017 but he was given the option to stand for an extended term. The term will also last for five years.
