US firm Winston & Strawn has hired a second partner from rival White & Case in the Middle East.
Shibeer Ahmed joins Winston & Strawn as the firm’s head of Islamic finance. He joins the office today (1 December) and will be based in the firm’s Dubai office.
Ahmed has worked at White & Case for the last six years as a partner in the firm’s energy, infrastructure, project and asset finance group. His clients include a range of financial institutions including commercial banks, export credit agencies, and development finance institutions. Before joining White & Case he was a partner at Hogan Lovells.
Last month Winston & Strawn picked up Campbell Steedman, who was also a partner at White & Case. Steedman joined Winston & Strawn as managing partner of its Middle East offices.
Steedman said: “With the addition of Shibeer to the team, we continue to focus on strategic growth of our key practice areas and markets. We are excited by Shibeer’s arrival, which continues the momentum we have already experienced in growing our Dubai office, together with the firm’s corporate department and project finance practice in the UAE.”
