Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer US securities litigation head Marshall Fishman has exited the firm for Goodwin Procter in New York.
The magic circle firm launched its US litigation practice in 2009, hiring Fishman a year later from Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel.
He was one of a number of litigation partners to join Freshfields in 2009/10, around the same time as Covington & Burling partners Aaron Marcu and Benito Romano and Willkie Farr & Gallagher partner Adam Siegel.
Fishman led Freshfields’ US commercial and securities litigation practice, representing financial institutions on matters before the federal and state courts.
Recent cases involve the defence of class actions arising out of the Madoff fraud and disputes arising from the global financial crisis.
A number of partners have left Freshfields’ New York office in the last six months, including executive partner Michael Lacovara who joined Latham & Watkins. Corporate partner Doug Bacon also joined Kirkland & Ellis in Houston.
