PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has lost a five-strong disputes team to Bird & Bird, in the same week its legal arm, PwC Legal, has lost a corporate partner to DWF.

Bird & Bird has launched an international tax disputes practice in London on the back of the team hire, which was led by partners Andy Brown and Julian Balson.

Brown was at PwC for two years as a partner, having joined in 2014 from DWF, where he was head of tax controversy and dispute resolution.

Balson was a solicitor at PwC for two years; prior to that, he was a solicitor at the Khan Partnership.

The rest of the team is made up of legal director Ben Holloway and associates Tom Jaggar and Chris Young.

Meanwhile, DWF has hired corporate lawyer Alistair Hogarth to its London corporate team.

Hogarth had been at PwC for 20 years, and specialises in mid-tier M&A transactions, large-scale due diligence projects, private equity transactions and joint ventures across key sectors, including energy and industrials, retail and technology.
