Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) and Mayer Brown have advised on the sale of the Leadenhall building with Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) taking the lead role for Hong Kong buyer CC Land.
Mayer Brown real estate partners Jeremy Clay and Caroline Humble advised on behalf of British Land, while HSF partner Richard Forsdyke worked with Oxford Properties.
Head of real estate at BLP Chris de Pury advised CC Land, the investment company of Chinese property magnate Cheung Chung Kiu.
CC Land also has a relationship with Addleshaw Goddard – another panel firm of British Land. Just this month Addleshaws advised CC Land on its acquisition of One Kingdom Street, London, from TH Real Estate for £292m.
The skyscraper, nicknamed the Cheesegrater, was put up for sale by its owners British Land and Oxford properties who each own a 50 per cent stake in the building.
Property firms Cushman & Wakefield and Eastdil Secured were appointed as the selling agents on the deal.
HSF and Mayer Brown won roles on British Land’s first panel at the end of 2015 alongside Addleshaw Goddard, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Jones Day, King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) and Simmons & Simmons. Since then Hogan Lovells has also won a place following the collapse of KWM.
Legacy SJ Berwin and Herbert Smith had advised British Land and Oxford Properties respectively on the £340m development of Leadenhall Building in 2011.
