Slaughter and May will offer five start-ups, including WorldRemit and Tide, up to £30,000 in free services under a new fintech scheme.
The firm announced last October that it was launching the “Fintech Fast Forward” scheme, with 25 businesses applying to join the programme.
Five companies have now been selected, including online banking service WorldRemit. The company’s head of legal Sam Ross was profiled in The Lawyer’s Disruptive GC interview series last month.
Other start-ups include compliance technology company Enforcd, banking app Tide and cyber security service Garrison, and Just Miles, which provides car insurance to people who live in cities and use their car infrequently.
Under the scheme, Slaughters will offer the five companies up to £30,000 in legal services.
Slaughters partners Rob Sumroy and Ben Kingsley have been spearheading the programme, with external help from Invoke Capital CEO Mike Lynch, DeepMind Technologies general counsel Trevor Callaghan and LocalGlobe general partner Ophelia Brown.
Sigga Sigurdardottir, chief customer and innovation officer at Santander, is also on the panel alongside the founder of the Cass Business Schools’ centre for entrepreneurship Peter Cullum.
