Bruce will succeed partner Yves Moreau, who has held the posistion since 2011. His term, which starts immediately, will run for four years.

Under his new remit, Bruce will be responsible for the Linklaters real estate team in eight countries and will focus on increasing the amount of pan-European deals that the real estate team does.

Bruce will continue to do fee-earning work, and will continue to lead the UK real estate team.

Bruce has worked at Linklaters for 24 years, and was made UK head of real estate in 2012, replacing former head Anne Byrne who left to join Capital & Counties Properties as general counsel.

Linklaters’ 17-partner real estate team represents 10 per cent of the firm’s overall revenue.

Linklaters global head of finance and projects Michael Kent said: “The practice is going from strength to strength and has a strong market reputation, especially for complex and Pan-European work. I’m sure this will continue under Andy’s leadership and I wish him the very best.”

According to data from The Lawyer Market Intelligence (LMI), Linklaters’ key real estate clients include UK Green Investment Bank, AustralianSuper, Athene Holding, Heytex Group, Abu Dhabi Financial Group, Tesco, Natixis, Sonnedix Dulauze, the Siam Commercial Bank, Aroland Holdings, Invesco Real Estate and SoftBank Group.
