Latham & Watkins has hired yet another magic circle partner, recruiting Linklaters financial regulatory partner Csefalvay.

Csefalvay has been a partner in the magic circle firm’s finreg since 2015, having spent two years as counsel. He was previously a managing associate at the firm for four years.

He will join Latham’s corporate and financial institutions practice, which was boosted last year by several partners from Ashurst.

Ashurst’s financial regulatory head Rob Moulton joined Latham at the start of this year, along with colleague Nicola Higgs.

Latham has a habit of hiring partners from the magic circle, last year also taking on Allen & Overy (A&O) corporate partner Ed Barnett and banking partner Stephen Kensell.

Slaughter and May corporate partner Sanjev Warna-kula-suriya also left for the US firm’s City office in 2016.

In 2014, Latham raided Clifford Chance’s private equity practice hiring partners Kem Ihenacho, David Walker and Tom Evans.

Freshfields, which has not been targeted by Latham in London, lost its executive partner Michael Lacovara to the firm in New York last June.
