Eversheds Sutherland CEO and longstanding partner Bryan Hughes will leave Eversheds Sutherland at the end of this year after leading the firm for eight years.
He will vacate the firm in the final quarter of the year following a six-month term in project management, where he will focus on Eversheds Sutherland’s consulting business and strategy.
Hughes first joined the firm in 1984 specialising in commercial litigation and became managing partner of the Cardiff office in 2000. He later became UK managing partner in 2006 and was then appointed chief executive in 2009.
This April sees current managing partner Lee Ranson take over from Hughes in the top role.
Ranson will be a member of the firm’s six-strong global management team including legacy Sutherland managing partner Mark Wasserman.
Last month Eversheds’ merger with US firm Sutherland Asbil & Brennan went live. It brought its two-year search for a US merger partner to an end.
The newly-merged firm is overseen by a global board of 10 with equal representation from both firms including Eversheds managing partner-elect Keith Froud and international managing partner Ian Gray.
Sutherland head of real estate Victor Haley and tax partner Thomas Gick are also on the board, with Washington DC partner Cynthia Krus further part of the management team.
