US litigation boutique Pomerantz is set to open its first office outside of the US, launching in Paris with a one-man team.
The firm, which specialises in securities class action litigation, has hired ERAFP lawyer Nicolas Tatin to head the Paris office as the firm’s director-business development consultant for France, Benelux, Monaco and Switzerland.
Tatin will advise institutional investors in the European Union on how best to evaluate losses to investment portfolios that have arisen from financial misconduct, and how best to maximise potential recoveries in US and international securities litigations.
Tatin began his career at Natixis Asset Management, before working as a financial lawyer for France’s €24bn-pension and retirement fund ERAFP and BNP Paribas Investment Partners.
Pomerantz managing partner Jeremy Lieberman said that the firm will expand its operations and client development efforts to France and Continental Europe.
The firm, which has offices in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York, has a total headcount of 12 partners and 26 lawyers.
Earlier this month, Pomerantz was appointed co-lead counsel alongside Rosen Law in the Code Rebel Corporation Securities Litigation case. The lawsuit seeks to recover damages for Code Rebel investors under the federal securities laws over alleged false and misleading statements.
Other notable cases include BP plc’s 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill, for which Pomerantz secured a victory in 2014 over the right of foreign investors who purchased foreign-traded shares of a foreign corporation to pursue foreign-law claims for securities fraud losses in a US court.
