Capita has appointed 21 firms to its new legal roster, including DWF, Herbert Smith Freehills and Pinsent Masons.

The outsourcer last reviewed its panel in 2015, with the new terms lasting until February 2020.

The review was led by commercial manager Brendan Quinn, who liaised with Capita’s procurement teams throughout the process.

Capita’s legal function is run by group counsel Martin McCloskey.

Other firms understood to have made it onto Capita’s roster include Addleshaw Goddard, Eversheds Sutherland and Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman.

Capita in-house legal director Simon Lightman recently joined Pillsbury’s sourcing and technology transactions practice as counsel in London.

A number of magic circle firms also have close links to Capita, including Allen & Overy and Linklaters.

The panel covers all sorts of day-to-day work, including employment, real estate and finance.

There is a total of 21 firms on the roster, although the number is understood to have been reduced since the last review.

Capita entered the legal market in 2014 after the SRA granted volume outfit Optima Legal Services an ABS licence, ahead of a takeover by the outsourcing giant. Optima is run by managing director Craig Underwood – a former law at Minster Law.
