Land Securities general counsel Tim Ashby has kicked off a review of the property company’s legal panel.
The review will be the first conducted by general counsel Ashby, who joined the FTSE 100 company in May from Mothercare.
Historically Land Securities has operated a two-tier legal panel, with the A list offering higher annual billings than B. Both of the panel rosters deal with property, construction, planning and real estate litigation work.
Land Securities last reviewed its panel in 2013. According to The Lawyer Market Intelligence Berwin Leighton Paisner, Eversheds, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Hogan Lovells and Nabarro all won seats on the tier A panel.
The tier B panel is much smaller and currently consists of CMS Cameron McKenna and Herbert Smith Freehills. CMS picked up the work after merging with legacy firm Dundas & Wilson, which won the panel place in 2013.
Land Securities also operates a specialist panel for its non-property related work. The company’s banking and finance advice is provided by Allen & Overy while Clifford Chance and Slaughter and May advise on corporate matters.
It is unknown whether the new panel will operate on the same tiered system when it is announced later this year.
