Dentons has hired former Clifford Chance structured finance partner Peter Voisey to bolster its practice in London.

Voisey, who retired from Clifford Chance last year after 15 years at the firm, is joining alongside Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer senior associate Alistair Black, who will be a partner in the firm’s energy, transport and infrastructure practice.

These new additions in the UK follow the hire of Matthew Arnold & Baldwin’s banking and finance practice last year, adding a total of 75 fee-earners to the London team.

Dentons has followed an expansion plan focused on mergers and key lateral hires in the last year, with 21 non-disclosure agreements with firms around the world as the firm seeks to grow its presence in Europe and Asia and gain a foothold in Latin America.

According to research from The Lawyer, Dentons was the biggest lateral recruiter of any firm operating in Continental Europe in 2015.

The firm picked up 15 partners during the course of the year across Europe as it opened in Milan and bulked up in Budapest. The figures do not include the firm’s merger with Luxembourg firm OPF Partners, which took effect on 1 January 2016.
