Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer finance partner Ian Frost has left the firm for Vinson & Elkins in London.

Frost has been a partner in the magic circle firm’s banking and finance practice for the past 10 years, in which time he also worked in Freshfields’ Frankfurt office.

His main clients include private equity houses such as BC Partners and Permira, as well as international banks such as Deutsche Bank.

His departure from Freshfields follows the move of fellow finance partner Michael Steele, who left for Kirkland & Ellis last summer. However, the magic circle firm also hired Kirkland high-yield partner Andy Hagan just last week.

In London, Vinson & Elkins recently recruited Cadwalader Wickhersham & Taft private equity partner Paul Dunbar as well as relocating to 20 Fenchurch Street, or the “Walkie Talkie”.

Worldwide, the firm made the decision to close its office in Abu Dhabi with all staff set to relocate to its Dubai base.
