Siemens has added Addleshaw Goddard to its three-strong legal panel while Reed Smith has been axed from the roster.

Addleshaws will join incumbents Eversheds and Osborne Clarke on the panel, which was last reviewed in 2013 and saw the company halve the number of firms it uses.

Following the last review a Siemens spokesperson said the company had reduced its panel to develop a better relationship with the firms it uses as well as allowing it to improve value and efficiency.

Addleshaws was one of the firms to be cut from the 2013 panel along with Midlands firm Hill Hofstetter, legacy Manches, Pinsent Masons and Watson Farley & Williams.

Eversheds has worked with Siemens for the last three years and will advise the company on a range of practice areas including commercial, competition, employment and pensions, dispute resolution, construction and engineering, real estate and health and safety law. Competition partner Richard Prowse acts as the firm’s client partner for Siemens.

According to data from The Lawyer Market Intelligence, despite operating a slimmed down panel Siemens has been known to go increasingly off panel for corporate advice. Siemens also uses Baker & McKenzie and Linklaters as well as German firms Hengeler Mueller, Gleiss Lutz Schellenberg Wittmer.

Siemens’ client relationship partner at Osborne Clarke is M&A partner Simon Smith. The Addleshaws team advising Siemens includes senior partner Monica Burch, industrials head Michael Birchall, energy head Richard Goodfellow, finance litigation partner Sally Butt and asset finance partner Andrew Maskill.
