Mothercare has hired GVC Holdings general counsel Dan Talisman as its new legal head.
Talisman replaces Mothercare’s interim general counsel Nick Folland, who stood in as the retailer’s legal chief after the departure of Tim Ashby for Land Securities last year.
After spending four years at legacy Finers Stephens Innocent until 2001, Talisman moved in-house to Sportingbet, where he was general counsel for 12 years.
He then assumed the role of general counsel at GVC Holdings once the betting and gaming company acquired Sportingbet in 2013, alongside its consortium partner William Hill.
Last summer saw GVC involved in one of the most high-profile gaming transactions of the year, as the company saw off competition from 888 Holdings and announced its takeover of bwin.party.
According to The Lawyer Market Intelligence, Mothercare has a number of key advisers including DLA Piper and Slaughter and May, with the latter working with Hogan Lovells on the retailer’s £100m rights issue in 2014.
