Benelux
White & Case has reinforced its Belgium-based transactional team with the addition of Hadrien Servais as a new local partner in Brussels. Servais joins the banking practice from Shearman & Sterling, where he was a London-based associate.
Germany’s Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek has hired Ursula O’Dwyer as a partner in Brussels. O’Dwyer has been practising EU law in Brussels since 1987. In 2006, she founded the Brussels office of Irish firm Philip Lee.
Dutch firm Kennedy Van der Laan has appointed Nico Jacobs as a commercial real estate partner. Jacobs joins Kennedy Van der Laan from boutique Enspigt, which he founded in 2014.
Central & Eastern Europe
Dentons has hired Tomasz Braun as a banking and finance partner in Warsaw. He joins from HSBC in London, where he served as associate general counsel, legal risk management and assurance.
Austrian firm Dorda Brugger Jordis has recruited Heinrich Kühnert to head its competition and antitrust desk, after predecessor Stephan Polster decided to leave the partnership. Kühnert was previously a partner at Austrian law firm bpv Hügel.
Schoenherr has promoted finance lawyer Matei Florea to its equity partnership. Florea heads the banking and finance team in the firm’s Bucharest office.
France
Funds boutique MJ Hudson has hired King & Wood Mallesons partner Benjamin Aller to launch a Paris office. The office will be the firm’s sixth base worldwide, building on its existing presence in London, Hong Kong, Zurich, Guernsey and Jersey.
Germany
Herbert Smith Freehills has announced that international arbitration lawyer Patricia Nacimiento will join its partnership in Frankfurt. Nacimiento will join the firm from Norton Rose Fulbright, where she was a partner, on 9 May.
Iberia
Gómez-Acebo & Pombo has announced that litigation partner Francisco Peña is the firm’s new resident partner in Portugal. The appointment was made by the board at its annual meeting. Peña takes over from Carlos Rueda who, after nearly two years in Lisbon, was recently appointed as the firm’s managing partner.
Madrid-based J. Almoguera Abogados has announced the hire of Antonio Góngora to expand the firm’s domestic and international litigation and arbitration practice. Góngora joins from Garrigues, where he was a senior associate.
Italy
Ashurst has announced that partner Stephen Edlmann has been appointed managing partner of Ashurst in Italy. Capital markets specialist Edlmann is relocating from London to take up the new role. He replaces Domenico Gullo.
Employment boutique Lexellent has announced the arrival of Alberto Tito as of counsel to the firm. He previously served as of counsel at Candian.
