A&O leadership frontrunner Kensell exits for Latham

Allen & Overy (A&O) finance partner Stephen Kensell, who was a frontrunner in the firm’s recent leadership elections, has exited for Latham & Watkins.

Kensell, who was among several partners running for the managing partner position earlier this year, was defeated by Andrew Ballheimer a week after the magic circle firm voted in Wim Dejonghe to the senior partner role.

The US firm also hired financial regulatory partner Rob Moulton and restructuring partner Simon Baskerville, both from Ashurst.
