Squire Patton Boggs will hold a leadership election in the coming months after Europe and Middle East managing partner Peter Crossley announced he is stepping down.
Crossley, who has been in the role for six years, will step down when his current term comes to an end in December 2016.
Crossley was formerly managing partner of legacy firm Hammonds, and was first elected to the role unopposed in 2004. He took up the role of European managing partner when the firm merged with Squire Sanders in January 2011.
A Squires spokesperson confirmed that Crossley has “decided to step down at the end of the year as the firm’s managing partner for EMEA after 12 years in the role” and that his replacement will be chosen over the course of the next couple of months.
Since Squire Sanders & Dempsey acquired Hammonds in 2011, the combined firm went on to merge with Washington DC-based Patton Boggs.
The tie-up gave the firm a total of 1,700 lawyers in 45 offices across 22 countries.
Squire Patton Boggs grew even further this year following a merger with 50-lawyer US firm Carroll Burdick.
