Stephenson Harwood has hired a seven-lawyer trade finance team from Eversheds in Hong Kong, led by partners King Tak Fung and Ivan Ng.
Banking partner Fung and litigation partner Ng first joined Eversheds in 2009 as part of a five-partner team moved from DLA Piper a year after Eversheds opened its Hong Kong office.
Fung’s practice focuses on trade finance. Prior to private practice, he was the vice president and head of trade finance at Bank of America.
Ng is a litigation partner with more than 20 years’ experience. He had previously practised at Stephenson Harwood’s Hong Kong office in the 1990s.
Stephenson Harwood’s Greater China managing partner Voon Keat Lai added that the pair has worked alongside each other for over 12 years on trade finance disputes and banking litigation, with Ng covering all contentious aspects and Fung covering the non-contentious aspects.
The five associates that are joining the firm in due course include Emily Li and Stephanie Poon.
Last month, the firm appointed litigation Richard Wilmot from Watson Farley & Williams’ Hong Kong office, where he led the litigation and dispute resolution practice.
Eversheds has recently added a number of partners in Hong Kong, including employment partner Jennifer Van Dale from Hong Kong boutique Gall, M&A partner Charles Butcher, who was previously a consultant at Hogan Lovells, and banking partner Jae Lemin, previously a senior associate at Herbert Smith Freehills.
