Thomas Cook’s general counsel and chief corporate officer Craig Stoehr has quit the company, with UK and Ireland legal head Alice Marsden named as his successor.
Stoehr joined the travel company from Eastgate Capital Group in 2012 and was appointed as chief corporate officer in December 2014.
As part of the executive board Stoehr was involved in the company’s efforts to revamp its strategy in the past year under the leadership of new CEO Peter Fankhauser. The developments included a joint venture with China’s Fosun Group, confirmed in June 2015, as well as a changing focus on its own brand.
In a statement the company confirmed Stoehr had left to “pursue other opportunities”.
“Over the course of his tenure, Craig was instrumental in building the company’s corporate structure and led a number of important strategic initiatives that contributed to the transformation journey,” the statement added.
Marsden will retain her role as group company secretary and will sit on Thomas Cook’s group management council. She will have direct responsibility for corporate governance and legal matters across the group, UK and airlines, while also overseeing the legal functions in all source markets.
Meanwhile Stoehr’s M&A responsibilities will pass to Thomas Cook Group CFO, Michael Healy.
