Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has signed a lease to take on around 300,000sq ft of office space at 100 Bishopsgate.
The new space in the heart of the City will see the firm reduce its London floorspace by around a quarter after relocating its entire legal services and back office departments to Manchester last year.
The magic circle firm shortlisted several locations for its new headquarters earlier this year, including 70 St Mary Axe and 3 Finsbury Avenue.
Freshfields’ lease on its current Fleet Street premises expires in 2021. The new building will be completed in 2018. It is not yet known if Freshfields will trigger a break clause during the three-year gap.
100 Bishopsgate is a Brookfield development, with the firm’s real estate team counting the company as one of its long-time property clients.
The firm engaged commercial real estate agent Cushman & Wakefield on its search for property in London.
Freshfields declined to comment.
