DWF has become the latest UK law firm to launch an agile working environment in an attempt to accommodate the 215 Triton employees that recently joined the firm’s London office as a result of the merger in January this year.
A source at the firm told The Lawyer that the catalyst for the new introduction was the influx of Triton lawyers.
“While it is not a new development, as we have some employees currently classified as agile, it is a first for our entire London office to go agile,” one source told The Lawyer.
Due to the high volume of movement between the firms for a lot of employees at the London office, the firm “doesn’t need everyone working with a fixed desk all of the time,” a source said.
“There will still be some fixed desks for employees who don’t move about as regularly; however there will also be a lot more ‘hot desks’ for agile workers to use.”
DWF director of facilities and property Karl Warmbold said: “As well as there being a clear economic advantage to having an agile workforce, it is proven to improve engagement, productivity and motivation and give people a greater work-life balance, all of which will help us attract and retain top talent. It also gives us much more flexibility to grow our London office.”
DWF also has plans for its communal dining area to be converted into an “agile working hub”.
“We are also looking to give the bistro a more airport-lounge setup where employees who may have back to back meetings for example can come and set up a laptop in a more relaxed environment,” a source said.
The firm launched its first office in France, through a merger with four-partner firm Heenan Paris, in January gifting DWF a line into South Africa thanks to Heenan’s exclusive alliance with Thomson Wilks.
