King Digital’s top lawyer Robert Miller has left the gaming company for UK start-up Improbable.

Miller was chief legal officer and corporate secretary at King for nearly five years, joining the Candy Crush owner in 2012.

Prior to 2012, Miller was also head of legal at LivingSocial and general counsel of Skype.

He has held in-house roles at eBay and BT, after a brief spell in private practice at legacy Field Fisher Waterhouse. He trained at Turner Kenneth Brown before its merger with Nabarro Nathanson.

King Digital was acquired in 2015 by rival mobile gaming company Activision Blizzard.

Under the terms of the transaction, ABS Partners, a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, acquired all of the outstanding shares of King in a deal worth $5.9bn (£3.8bn).

Miller will become Improbable’s first legal chief having been founded in 2012. The company helps developers build simulated worlds for online games and virtual reality software.
