Dentons has hired a five-lawyer patents team from Olswang ahead of the firm’s merger with CMS Cameron McKenna and Nabarro.

The team is led by partner Justin Hill, whose move was announced at the end of last year. He had co-chaired Olswang’s patent prosecution practice in London.

He will be joined by counsel Alexander Rees, and senior lawyers Marie Jansson Heeks and Louis Trichard. Patent lawyer Gemma Sparrow completes the team.

The group will join the firm in May to spearhead Dentons’ first foray into patent prosecution and opposition in the UK.

It comes as Olswang nears its tripartite merger with CMS and Nabarro.

A number of partners have already decided to opt out of the mega-merger including  IP partner Stephen Reese who left for Clifford Chance and former Asia head Rob Bratby who joined newly-merged Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer.

Olswang corporate finance partner Azlinda Ariffin-Boromand also left for Withers.
