Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed plans to extend its legal panel by a further two years.
The panel was due to be renewed at the end of last month (October) after a four-year period.
This means that current advisers, which include Ashurst, Berwin Leighton Paisner, Dentons, Eversheds, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Herbert Smith Freehills, will be in place until at least the end of 2017, when TfL will conduct its next review.
Lewis Silkin, Dentons and Trowers & Hamlins were appointed for the first time in 2012, when Bird & Bird, Clifford Chance, legacy Manches and Travers Smith were cut.
TfL’s legal director Andrea Clarke said: “After successfully supporting our legal work for the past four years, we have decided to extend our existing panel of external law firms by a further two years.”
A TfL spokesperson said that the company held a very robust competitive procurement in 2012 focusing on fees and reducing the number of panel firms.
TfL confirmed that new arrangements will be put in place in 2017/18.
