CMS’s German arm, CMS Hasche Sigle, has signed a deal with technology provider Kira to apply its software to transactional advice.

The software is understood to be in the testing phase, with plans to roll it out later this year.

CMS partner Stefan Sieling, who is responsible for the firm’s knowledge management, said Kira will enhance the firm’s legal services in the region.

“By deploying Kira, we expect to be able to handle large quantities of data and due diligence processes better, faster and more efficiently,” he said.

Last year, the firm began using contract generating software HotDocs, and also introduced risk assessment tool FPE.

It is not clear whether the wider CMS network will adopt Kira in the future. The Lawyer understands significant advancements to the tech of CMS Cameron McKenna in the UK were central to some of its negotiations with Olswang and Nabarro over its merger deal. The firm has been approached for comment.

CMS Hasche Sigle is the latest in a series of firms to sign up to use Kira. Last year Addleshaw Goddard, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Clifford Chance and DLA Piper all signed agreements with the tech provider.
